Tomato Thokku

Ingredients:

  •  2 lb of Roma Tomatoes or Tomatoes
  • 3 Tablespoon of Red chilli Powder
  • Small pinch of Asafoetida
  • 2 Teaspoon of Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 Tablespoon of Oil

Seasoning:

  • Mustard seeds

Procedure:

  1. Grind the Roma tomatoes in a mixie or food processor. Sieve the tomatoes in order to get the juice.
  2. Take a Wok or Pan, heat it, Pour Oil, fry mustard seeds.
  3. Then add the tomato juice, red chilly powder, asafoetida, turmeric powder and salt.
  4. Simmer the gas and keep it for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Till it shrinks and the oil comes on the top keep it in gas.

 

Note:

  • It goes well with rice or dosa or idly.
  • You can keep it in fridge for a week.
  • If you want thokku for many days add more oil.
